Hello!
Thank you for stopping by! I am a community builder and I love to meet new people. I also have many life-long friends.
Music has been part of my life since I was three years old. My parents took me to Yamaha piano lessons in South Africa. I have vivid memories of singing and playing the piano in a group.
Then I moved to Canada. We could not afford lessons. We had an amazing music teacher at school and she fostered my love for the recorder. When I was eleven, I took a four part recorder piece and played it on the rickety old piano my father inherited from someone at work. Many years later, I learned that the school music teacher went to the local piano teacher and said, “You have to teach this girl.” The piano teacher said, “I have a waiting list.” The school teacher said, “Take her now.” And that’s how I resumed piano lessons.
In 1988, I entered the full time ARCT (diploma) program at the Royal Conservatory of Music. I also began teaching piano at a studio. Allison Rosser was everything a young teacher could want in a mentor. She showed me how to care for my students, how to always be learning new ways to teach, and how to run a business.
In 1993 I moved to Calgary with my husband and set up my own studio. I have three pianos – the teaching piano that my father gave me to replace the rickety old one when we decided that music would be my life, the recital piano that I bought from Susanna Singer when she retired, and the electric piano that is a really fun teaching tool.
I have taught over 700 students in 30 years. My youngest student was 2.75 and my eldest was over 80. I welcome anyone who wants to learn.
I love children and have one of my own, though she is grown and flown. I can’t live without animals. At present we have a geriatric cat and dog, Hector and Stella.
Everything I touch turns to art. I enjoy weaving, painting, embroidery, to mention three. I am an author, releasing book one of the Leoshine series this fall. I narrate audiobooks too!
Now that you know a little about me, please contact me, come to my studio, and let’s get to know each other through music!

Efficient
I try to maximize the learning while you or your child is in my studio. You can help by being on time and practising a little bit every day.
Deeply Committed
Teaching is what I love to do. Are you learning for fun, for the joy? Or do you want to take exams? Let’s set some goals and work towards them.
Highly Skilled
I invest time and money into my studio to keep it current as well as fun. I spend a hundred hours or more each year keeping current with the RCM programs and syllabus. I take training on my own to develop my skills.
